Abstract: This paper traces the history of modern Jingdezhen ceramic education, explaining the crucial role of apprenticeship in ancient ceramic skill education and its subsequent replacement by a more advanced schooling model with everything changed with the time. It believes the traditional education model was not totally repudiated, but was adopted as a foundation for a new education system which was more scientific, orderly and pragmatic; the process embodies a national characteristic of modern Jingdezhen ceramic education.
