Abstract:To achieve efficient recycling of rare earth mining solid waste, rare earth tailings were used as the main source material for preparing ceramsite. On condition that Al2O3 acted as an aluminum adjusting agent and quartz powder acted as a silicon adjusting agent,the effects of the calcination temperature and Al/Si ratio on the performance of ceramsite were investigated. The microstructure of the ceramsite was characterized by SEM and XRD analysis. Results indicated that tailoring the sintering temperature and the silica alumina ratio can both affect the structure and performance of the ceramsite;
