Preparation and Research on Anode of Anti-Carbon Deposition for SOFC Using Ethanol as Fuel

Abstract:A nano Ru catalytic layer on the Ni -YSZ anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell was obtained by impregnation method. The influences of different Ru content on the electrical properties of a single cell were studied by SEM, EDS and the electrochemical workstation.The research result revealed that a functional nano Ru catalytic layer was gotten on Ni-YSZ anode by impregnation method. The pear-like nano Ru particles were uniformly dispersed on the surface of Ni-YSZ anode materials. With 0.8 wt.% Ru impregnated in ethanol (nH2O/CH3CH2OH=3:1) fuel at 800°C, the electrical performance of Ru-Ni-YSZ║YSZ║Ag single cell was 304mW /cm2. The 10 hours’ running test showed the electro catalytic activity and anti-carbon deposition of the cell obviously improved.
