Abstract: Magnetically modified sepiolite with good adsorption was prepared by chemical coprecipitation process with acid-treated sepiolite as a carrier. The magnetically modified sepiolite was characterized by XRD and FTIR. The results showed that magnetic core Fe3O4 was successfully loaded on the surface of sepiolite fibers by electrostatic force. The adsorption of methylene blue in simulated wastewater by magnetically modified sepiolite was studied. The results indicate that the adsorption isotherm for methylene blue accords with the Langmuir equation. The adsorption enthalpy and entropy changes are respectively 1.048 kJ/mol and 12.502 J/(mol•K), and the adsorption is a spontaneous, physical and endothermic process. Also the adsorption dynamics follows the laws of pseudo-second-order kinetics.
