Abstract: Nanopowders of Ba(Mg(1-x)/3ZrxTa2(1-x)/3)O3 (BMZT) were prepared by wet chemical method using Ba(OH)2·8H2O, Mg(NO3)2·6H2O, ZrOCl2·8H2O and TaCl5 as raw materials, NH3·H2O and C8H6O4 as precipitators. The precursor and calcined nanopowders were characterized by the thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope. It is shown that spherical BMZT powders with the particle size of about 0.1 μm were obtained by calcining the precursor at 900 ℃ for 3 h. When the additive amount of Zr4+ ion reached 10mol%, the prepared Ba(Mg0.3Zr0.1Ta0.6)O3 powders had cubic crystal structure. With the prepared BMZT powder as raw material, translucent Ba(Mg0.3Zr0.1Ta0.6)O3 ceramics were prepared by sintering Ba(Mg0.3Zr0.1Ta0.6)O3 powder at 1550 ℃ for 4 h in O2 atmosphere. The transmittance of the prepared Ba(Mg0.3Zr0.1Ta0.6)O3 ceramics reached about 50% in the range of visible light.
Key words: Ba(Mg(1-x)/3ZrxTa2(1-x)/3)O3; translucent ceramic; sintering in O2 atmosphere; wet chemical method
