Abstract: As a combination between modern computer technology and ceramic decoration technology, the digital ink-jet printing has many more advantages than traditional ceramic decoration technologies. The preparation of ceramic ink is the key technique for the digital ceramic ink-jet printing. In this paper, a black ceramic ink was successfully prepared by grinding dispersion method. The influence of solid content on the properties of the ceramic ink was investigated. The ink was printed on cordierite honeycomb ceramics by inkjet printer, on which the temperature stability was tested in different temperature ranges from 600 °C to 1000 °C. Results show that the printed picture on the cordierite honeycomb ceramics remains clearly visible without color change after being annealed at 800 °C for 30 minutes. However, with the further increasing of the annealing temperature, the color of the ink becomes gradually lighter.
Key words: black ceramic ink; grinding dispersion method; solid content; temperature stability
