Abstract: A non-radioactive, samarium-tragged fracturing proppant for the evaluation of fracturing effect was prepared using samarium sesquioxide as the labeled substance. The effects of Sm2O3 addition on the crystal structure, sintering temperature, crush resistance and acid solubility of the proppants were investigated, and the corresponding internal mechanism was explored. The results showed that the labeled element could reduce the sintering temperature, crushing rate and acid solubility, mainly because the formation of a new phase, which was generated by reaction between the labeled element and aluminum oxide, can improve the density, refine corundum grains and enhance the resistance of the support agent to acid.

Key words: samarium sesquioxide; tagged element; proppant; non-radioactive; evaluation of fracturing
