Abstract: Supercapacitors have received extensive attention due to their high power density, fast charge and discharge rates and longterm cycling stability in recent years. After simply explaining the charge storage mechanism of supercapacitors, this review summarizes some promising electrode materials with high energy density and power density such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), MXenes, metal nitrides, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and black phosphorus. Their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed in detail. Finally, the perspectives of supercapacitors are discussed.
