Abstracts: The concentration of TiO2 in irisated titanium-mica pearly pigments was analyzed by ammonium ferric sulfate volumetric method. The results show, with the increase of TiO2 concentration, the color of the irisated titanium-mica pearly pigment changed from silvery white to golden yellow, and then to fuchsias, which tallied with the law of rainbow effect. The microscopic morphology of the pigments was also observed. The inverted fluorescence microscope found that the transmitted light color tallied with the color absorbed. The scanning electron micrographs indicated with the increase in TiO2 concentration, the edges and corners of mica flakes were smoother.
Key words: pearly pigments; titanium-mica; coated concentration; micromorphology
