Abstract: This paper studies the form language development of modern ceramic art, its introduction of metaphor, its concepts of art creation, and the soil that nourishes both its concepts and form language. The inner relation among the expressive media, form language and metaphoric techniques of modern ceramic art is also analyzed. It’s suggested that the metaphoric advantages of the form language should be used to promote the development of modern ceramic art in accordance with the aesthetics of the contemporary society and the environment of the contemporary art. A modern ceramic artist should give considerations to the social, cultural, material and aesthetic attributes of the art to seek for his own creation an expressive form with the oriental taste.
