Abstract: The effect of Pr2O3 doping on the thermal shock resistance of Mg-PSZ has been studied, and the mechanism of thermal shock resistance has been explained from three aspects: the thermal shock resistance parameter (R), the thermal damage resistance parameter (R’),and the phase transformation. The results confirm that the addition of Pr2O3 adversely affects the mechanical properties of Mg-PSZ at room temperature. However, the increases of R, R'values and the amount of monoclinic phase lead to a significant increase of the thermal shock resistance at specific addition ratios.
