Abstract: With their functions of heat insulation, anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion, thermal barrier coatings are used in those hot end components exposed to high temperature oxidation and air erosion, such as steam turbine, diesel generators, jet engines, and so on. They notonly raise working temperature, but also improve working efficiency and prolong service time. So they have extremely important research significance. This paper summarizes the research progress of thermal barrier coatings, introduces their preparation process and characteristics,sketches the features and defects of those currently used, and looks forward to their development trend.
