Abstract: TiVCN based cermets were prepared, using TiC, VC and TiN as solid phases and Co, Ni and Mo additives. The effect of mCo /mNi on microstructure and properties were investigated using SEM, EDS, and mechanical properties tests. Results show that the microstructure of TiVCN based cermets was composed of black core, grey shell and white binder phase. The mechanical properties of TiVCN based cermets decreased with mCo /mNiincreasing. When mCo /mNi was 1/4, the property of TiVCN based cermet was the best.
