Form and Cultural Function of the Song Dynasty Porcelain Tea Cup Stand

Abstract: The tea culture in Song Dynasty had a great influence on the shape, function, design and aesthetics of the ceramic tea cup stands with the prevalence of tea in Song Dynasty. Through a brief introduction of the characteristics of ceramic cup stands in Song dynasties, this paper is specifically aimed to analyze the aesthetic design of ceramic cup stands in Song Dynasty, in terms of kiln shapes from related kilns, the arrangement of proportion and size, the choice of shapes and parts and the cultural connotations, exploring the aesthetic consciousness of Neo-Confucianism and cultural connotation from the practical life to the promotion of spiritual realm.
