Abstract: Ceria-stabilized zirconia has attracted wide attentions due to its decent properties, such as high fracture toughness, excellent resistance against low temperature degradation (LTD) and outstanding stability (high Weber Modulus). However, its application has been limited by its relatively low flexural strength and hardness. In order to comprehensively improve its mechanical properties, efforts have been made to optimize powder preparation process and sintering technology, explore mechanical behavior laws and identify the transformation zone features. In this paper, progress in the study of ceria-stabilized zirconia ceramics, in terms of powder preparation, sintering technology, mechanical properties, features of phase transformation toughening, shape memory effect and low temperature degradation resistance, will be reviewed.
Key words: Ce-TZP; powder preparation; sintering technology; mechanical properties
