Abstract: YAG has various advantages, such as excellent optical properties, good high temperature stability and high chemical stability. Therefore, it has been extensively explored for a wide range of applications. In this paper, different sintering aids, including CaO, MgO and SiO2, were used to prepare YAG porous ceramics. The preparation process of the YAG porous ceramics was optimized. Among the three sintering aids, MgO is the most suitable in terms of comprehensive performance of the YAG porous ceramics. The optimal concentration of MgO was 8%. With the comprehensive consideration of porosity, linear shrinkage and compressive strength, a mixed sintering aid with SiO2:MgO ratio of 1:4 led to samples with porosity of 52.98 % and compressive strength of 7.54 MPa.
